THURSDAY HOCKEY: Girls top Trojans, boys fall to Waseca

The Windom Area girls hockey team shook off a slow start Thursday night, storming back in the final two periods to claim a 5-2 victory at Worthington.

The Trojans jumped to a 2-0 start after one period, scoring on their only two shots on goal of the period.

But the Eagles battled back, scoring 50 seconds into the second on a goal from Marenna Bang. Bang tied the game three minutes later before a goal from Ella Dockter at the 5:28 mark gave the Eagles a 3-2 lead.

Windom padded the lead in the third, scoring on goals from Marissa Becker and Reagan Haugen. Meanwhile, the Eagles outshot the Trojans 15-8 over the final two periods to preserve the win.

Goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 8 saves in the win.

Waseca 4-3-4 = 11
Windom Area 0-1-0 = 1

Waseca peppered the net with 54 shots Thursday night, netting an 11-1 victory over the Windom Area boys hockey team at the Windom Arena.

The Bluejays scored a pair of power play goals and a pair of shorthanded goals in the game, outshooting the Eagles 54-19.

Windom Area, meanwhile, went 0-of-8 on the power play for the game.

The lone Eagle goal came in the second period, as Sonny Heil scored an unassisted goal, making the score 6-1 at the time. The Bluehays added a shorthanded goal late in the period, then scored four more goals in the third.

Goalie Adam Dahna finished with 43 saves in the loss.
