Scott William Beyer

Scott William Beyer, 66 of North Mankato passed away unexpectedly December 2, 2023 with his wife by his side from a massive brain bleed.

Depending what side of highway 30 you were on, his friends called him Scooter or Dobber (from Coach).

Scott was born on January 8, 1957, to Wallace and Florence (Winberg) Beyer in Windom, MN. Scott always said he shared his birthday with two greats, his dad and Elvis Presley.

Scott graduated from Windom High School in 1976 and attended Jackson Vocational for Solar Power degree for a short time.

Scott spent a few years after that traveling the United States setting up new K-Mart stores, living in many states.

Around 1989 a good friend talked to Scott about moving to Hawaii and Scott jumped on the bandwagon. Scott lived in Velzyland a neighborhood in Haleiwa, Hawaii on Oahu, with his apartment just feet from the ocean. Rumor has it that the Beach Boys wanted to buy Scott’s apartment for a recording studio.

While in Hawaii Scott was a finish carpenter by trade and took great pride in his work.

Scott loved Hawaii, but his heart missed Minnesota and the change of seasons so after 5 years Scott came home.

After moving back to Minnesota Scott bought a little homestead in Darfur, MN and worked for Balzer in Mountain Lake.

In 2012 Scott met the love of his life Annette after being a bachelor for 57 years. Scott and Annette married in July 2014 at Minneopa Falls a place that brought them both peace.

Moving to North Mankato, Scott started working at Industrial Fabrication in Lake Crystal and then retired in 2022.

Scott lived for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking, ice fishing and motorcycle riding, being a member of River Valley Abate.

Scott loved to play cribbage and often regretted teaching his wife how to play because she beat him quite often.

Scott is survived by his wife Annette Watts Beyer, stepchildren Chase Brocker and Chantel Sommerfield. Sisters Karen Petersen, La Vista, Nebraska, Gloria Sharpe, Fargo, North Dakota and Cindy Arndt, Windom, MN.

Sister-in-law Adele Grefsrud, Cascade Idaho, and brother-in-law Allan (Julie) Watts, Rochester, MN.

Nieces, nephews, and special cousins he holds dear to him.

Scott’s four-legged fur babies Frosty and Finley.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerry Phyle and brother-in-law Ardean Grefsrud.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, 2024, at The Eagles Club, 708 North Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN from 1 to 4 PM.
