TUESDAY HOCKEY: Tigers sweep Eagles

The Windom Area girls hockey team couldn’t find its footing on offense Tuesday night, dropping a 3-1 decision at Marshall.

The Eagles were held to eight shots on goal in the contest.

Marshall took an early lead, scoring a power play goal in the opening period. The Eagles tied the game at 1-1 early in the second, as Madyson Fredin sliced through the Tiger defense for an unassisted goal.

But Marshall’s second power play goal of the game gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the second period, and Marshall added an insurance goal late.

Fiona Robillard finished with 35 saves in the loss.

The Windom Area boys hockey team struggled on defense in the second period Tuesday night, allowing Marshall to race to a 6-0 victory at Marshall.

Windom Area trailed 1-0 after one period, but the Tigers turned 11 shots in the second period into five goals, taking a 6-0 advantage.

Marshall then sat back on defense late, holding the Eagles to four shots on goal in the third period.

Marshall outshot the Eagles 30-21 for the game. Goalie Adam Dahna finished with 24 saves.
