SECTION VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals sweep Eagles for sub-section title

Windom 20-16-10 = 0
RV 25-25-25 = 3

Redwood Valley was able to keep the Windom Eagle volleyball team off-balance Thursday night, as the Cardinals claimed the Section 3AA South championship with a 3-0 victory at Springfield.

The Cardinals were able to take an early lead in the opening set, then fought off a late Windom surge to claim a 25-20 victory.

Redwood Valley then pulled away in the middle of the second set, using a long service run to claim a 25-16 victory.

The Cardinals then started the third set with a 5-0 lead and used another lengthy service run to put the set out of reach, winning 25-10.

Windom’s offense never found its rhythm, as the Cardinals used aggressive serving to force the Eagles into giving up free balls.

Tristyn Maras led the Eagles at the net with nine kills. Leah Hauge added six and Addison Colbert had four.

Maras went 13-of-13 serving with an ace. Hadley Sammons was 8-of-8 with an ace and Hannah Dauer went 6-of-9 with an ace.

Charlee Huska finished with 14 set assists. Maras and Kadyn Paulson each had nine digs.
