Mary Ann Ling

With her best friend and loving husband of 67 years at her side, Mary Ann (Morgan) Ling peacefully passed away October 13, 2023, at New Perspective Assisted Living in Mankato at the age of 88 years.

Mary Ann (Morgan) Ling was born on her grandparents’ farm in Nobles County on April 14, 1935 to Paul and Grace (Christensen) Morgan. She was baptized at the Round Lake Presbyterian church, and grew up on the family farm north of Round Lake, Minnesota. Mary Ann attended school in Round Lake, graduating in 1953. She then went on to attend the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nursing Degree in 1956.

On August 11, 1956, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Clifford Paul Ling at the Round Lake Presbyterian church. That same year, Mary Ann and Cliff moved into the University of Minnesota student housing complex in St Paul, MN, while Cliff attended veterinary school and Mary Ann worked at the Fairview Hospital. During this time, they were blessed with four children. She continued her career in the nursing profession for many years serving at various health facilities in several different capacities, including eight years as the Director of Nursing at the Windom Area Hospital.

Mary Ann liked making afghans and mittens for her family. She was an avid reader; history and biographies were her favorites. She enjoyed her family and being outdoors on the farm that she and Cliff built with love over many years. She especially enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was the two-month trip she and Cliff took to Alaska in a pop-up pickup camper. They also spent 23 winters in Mercedes, Texas, making frequent treasured trips to South Padre Islands.

Mary Ann had deep faith, and was a longtime member of the Windom Presbyterian Church.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace Morgan; brother, Jim Morgan; in-laws, Paul and Mardella Ling; as well as other cherished family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Cliff; Children, Laurie (Bob) DeGezelle of Mankato, Tim (Karen) Ling of Burnsville, Sarah Ling (Dennis Bona) of Hastings, Michigan, and David (Lori) Ling of Windom; Grandchildren, Kaili (Michael) Braa, Coleman (Val) Ling, Dalton Ling (Wade Rawlings), Keegan Ling, Mason (Amanda) Ling, Morgan Ling (Darshi Foster), Arlo (Ryan Ashley) DiCristina, Addy (Mic) Berg, and Shelby (Chase) Rovere; Great-Grandchildren, Mariah Braa, Wyatt Braa, Caleb Ling, Silas Ling, Danica Ling, Atheus DiCristina and Jude Berg.
