TUESDAY VOLLEYBALL: Eagles sweep Huskies

The Windom Eagle volleyball team kept Jackson County Central on its heels much of the night Tuesday, resulting in a 3-0 sweep over the Huskies at Windom.

The Eagles pulled away in the middle of the opening set, claiming a 25-18 win. Windom then rallied from behind in the second set, winning 25-23. The Eagles rallied again early in the third set, pulling away for a 25-20 win.

Windom’s offense started at the service line with 11 aces as a team. Ember Struck went 15-of-16 with five aces. Tristyn Maras was 15-of-17 with three aces and Hannah Dauer went 12-of-13 with two aces.

At the net, Maras fired away for 13 kills. Leah Hauge added eight kills and Dauer had five. Hauge and Struck each had two solo blocks.

Charlee Huska dished out 13 set assists. Kadyn Paulson added 14 digs.

RRC 23-25-25-25 = 3

Red Rock Central put together a solid night, claiming its first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Hills-Beaver Creek at Lamberton.

The Patriots won the opening set, rallying for a 25-23 win. But RRC battled back, dominating set two 25-15 before closing out the match with 25-22 and 25-16 wins.

Abby Evans and Tia Donkersloot each finished with 10 kills in the win.

Natasha Erickson was 25-of-26 serving with four aces. Donkersloot went 14-of-17 with three aces.

Addison Irlbeck finished with 24 set assists. Ella Erickson had 19 digs.

RTR 25-25-25 = 3

State-ranked Russell-Tyler-Ruthton wasted little time Tuesday night, quickly dispatching of Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey with a 3-0 sweep at Tyler.

The Knights were in total control from the start, holding the Wolverines to 16 total points scored in the match.

Brie Anacker led MLAC with three kills. Paige Wilson and Kyla Wuertz had two kills each. Reagan Christians finished with seven set assists and was 5-of-6 serving. Ella Dockter went 4-of-4 serving. Christians and Anacker had six digs each.
