A Celebration of Life Service for James “Jim” Bierman, age 72, of Jeffers, will be held Sat., Aug. 12th at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, with Pastor Mark Jamison officiating. A private, family burial will be held in the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers immediately following the service.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church in Jeffers. Arrangements are under the care of the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Condolences and memories of Jim may be sent online to www.lacannefuneralhome.com.
James “Jim” L. Bierman was born on Sept. 25, 1950, to Loren and Doris (Polkow) Bierman, in Windom, MN. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. Jim grew up in Jeffers, attending Jeffers Public School and graduated with the class of 1968. After graduation, Jim went on to Jackson Vocational School, where he studied Fertilizer and Ag Chemicals.
In 1969, Jim joined the National Guard in Windom. During his time with the National Guard, he earned the rank of Staff Sargent and was gun chief on the 155 mm howitzer. He served in the National Guard until 1976. Jim worked various jobs within the fertilizer business in Delft, Sanborn, and at Cargill in Comfrey. He moved to Frazee, MN in 1979, and hauled turkeys for the Swift plant. While he lived in Frazee, Jim spent a lot of time fishing and trapping in the area. Jim moved back to the Jeffers area in 1986 and started farming, when his dad started his retirement. He continued farming until his retirement in 2012. During this time, he spent many years on the Delton Township Board.
Upon retirement, Jim enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona. Joining Jim in his travels was his special friend, Kathy Amundson of Willmar.
On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Jim passed away at Windom Area Health in Windom at the age of 72 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Doris Bierman of Jeffers; 2 sisters, JoAnn Mariner of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jodi (Stan) Wendland of Sioux Falls, SD; special friend, Kathy Amundson of Willmar; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Loren Bierman; grandparents, John and Louise Polkow and Martin and Esther Bierman.
