Replacement begins for city’s main power feed

An important project to upgrade the city of Windom’s main electric transmission line feeds is underway.

City Electric Superintendent Jason Sykora informed that this is about a $3.5 million project that has been in the planning since 2019 but was slowed due to the pandemic. The contractor for the work is IES out of Lincoln, Nebraska and they are targeted to finish the work by the end of August.

“This is a substantial project, as it’s our main power feed into Windom,” said Sykora. “It’s very important to our utility.”
