Rains keep county out of drought

The Windom area received nearly an inch of rain last week and rain fell throughout the county to boost crops and keep Cottonwood County out of drought conditions.

There is still much drought in nearly every area of the state that is not in and around Cottonwood County, but the recent rains helped many parts of Minnesota to improve soil conditions and moisture for growing in the hot temperatures expected going forward.
In the Midwest, nearly all of Iowa is in drought and also in Missouri, with extreme drought in central Missouri.
