Ronald Arthur Becker passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. He was 84 years old. The Becker family extends their deepest gratitude and thanks to Connie Houge for the excellent care, compassion and support she provided.
Ron was born on November 10, 1938, in Comfrey, Minnesota to Arthur and Rosecilia (Kratz) Becker. He was baptized and confirmed at Stately Church in Comfrey. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1957. After graduation, he proudly served for ten years in the Army National Guard.
He was a hard-working farmer, and he took great pride in working on all kinds of equipment. He met his wife, Serene Derickson, while working as a farm hand for Jim Moody. Ron started working at Caldwell Meat Packing in Windom. Until just a few years ago, he continued to farm part-time. He was united in marriage to Serene Derickson on November 26, 1966. They had three children together. The marriage also provided a large extended family, the Leopold family, who warmly welcomed us.
Ron loved to visit and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling. He cherished all the trips he took with his family. He also enjoyed going to area casinos. He ushered at the American Lutheran Church and served as a board member for the Windom Community Center.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Arlette (Doug) Trumble and Angie Becker; two grandsons, Tim and Lucas Trumble; brother, Dennis (Alice) Becker; sister, Joyce Wiese; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rosecilia Becker; infant son, Richard Becker; wife, Serene; sister, Judy Albert; and brothers-in-law, Dave Schlack, Don Wiese and Eddy Albert.
