City hasn’t used aid funds yet

The city of Windom has clarified that out of the $14 million offered from the state of Minnesota, no money thus far has gone to either Headwaters Development (the company building the housing project once intended for HyLife workers) nor to HyLife to help them secure the recent buyer for the plant.

The bill granting the money was passed by the state legislature on May 12, and there was $1 million available if needed to help HyLife with recruitment efforts toward a new buyer. City officials confirmed this money was not used, as the bankruptcy auction in June provided a buyer, Premium Iowa Pork.
