A 13-year-old from Mt. Lake recorded the first ace of the 2023 golf season at the Windom Country Club Monday morning.
Alden Klassen, the son of Andy and Ally Klassen, aced the par-three Hole 7, using a seven-iron. The hole was playing at roughly 125 yards.
Klassen said he typically golfs at WCC in the morning, getting dropped off by his mom on her way to work. He then waits with his grandparents — Jim and Cheryl Englehorn — before heading home.
Klassen said he was nearly done with his 18 holes Monday morning when his tee shot on Hole 7 hit off the right fringe, caught a slope and trickled into the cup, which was center-right on the green. He then called his grandmother on Facetime, getting to show her the ball in the cup.
