Windom schools to get state funding aid

Windom Area Schools superintendent Jamie Frank said the district will receive some aid following the closing of the HyLife plant earlier this month.

In her monthly superintendent report, Frank reported Hylife terminated all 1,007 employees as of June 1 and the plant was purchased by Premium Iowa Pork.

The relief funding that the city of Windom requested from the state has been approved and some of that money will go to the school district.

WAS will receive one-time funding of $10,000 per student for the difference in enrollment between the Oct. 1, 2022 and Oct. 1, 2023. This is for one year only.
