Windom sophomore Kaylee Walklin wrapped up her 2023 track and field season with a state medal, finishing eighth in the 1,600-meter run at the Class A State Meet, held Thursday and Friday at St. Michael.
Walklin finished with a time of 5:18.77.
Senior Elliot Espenson tried to compete in the girls shot put and discus despite suffering an injured knee last week at practice. She was severely limited, resulting in a 16th-place discus throw of 87-8 Thursday and a 13th-place finish in the shot put on Friday (34-11½).
The lone entrants for the Eagle boys turned in a solid performance, but could not quite find the medal podium.
The boys 4×800-meter relay team of Aaden Nauman, Charlie Smith, Thomas Green and Bryan Macario Rios ran in the opening heat and finished fifth in the heat, but wound up in 14th place, overall, with a time of 8:18.14.
