Pirates shut out Martins

Fairmont 000 000 000 = 0-3-1
Windom 000 100 01x = 2-6-1

The Windom Pirates picked up their fourth consecutive victory Wednesday night, shutting down a potent Fairmont offense to defeat the Martins 2-0 at Island Park.

Pirate starting pitcher Collin Lovell worked the first seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out nine. Reliever Kobe Lovell pitched the final two hitless innings for a save, striking out two.

The Pirates broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth when Kobe Lovell hit a one-out triple and scored on a Noah Kloss broken-bat single.

The Pirates added a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. Luke Gilbertson hit a leadoff single, advanced on a groundout and scored on an Alex Fink RBI single.

Kobe Lovell had a pair of hits to lead the Pirate offense.
