At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners declined a proposal to increase the county’s current wheelage tax from $10 per vehicle to $20.
The wheelage tax is added to the cost of vehicle license tabs, and would potentially add $135,000 to the highway department funds for projects.
However, the option to increase the tax raised concern, with Commissioner Donna Gravley citing a recent increase in license tab fees from the state.
More from Tuesday’s meeting appears in the June 7 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
