MLAC at Section 2A South Meet
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s boys distance relays stole the show at Thursday’s Section 2A South Meet in Mapleton, setting new school records on their way to wins in the 4×400 and 4×800.
That highlighted a strong overall day for the Wolverines.
The top eight individuals in each event and the top four relays advance to the section meet June 3 at Mankato West High School.
Girls
The Wolverine girls were paced by a runner-up finish in the 4×800 relay, with a time of 10:46.47.
Gracie Peters placed third in the 400 (1:05.66). Theresa Nwaiga finished fourth in the 800 (2:34.75). Paige McMullen was fifth in the 100 (14.19). Meghan Johnson finished fifth in the 3,200 (13:26.73).
Boys
The Wolverine team of Carter Olson, Ethan Schroeder, Zach Klassen and Kody Wassman dominated in two relays, setting new Wolverine school records in both the 4×800 (8:18.35) and 4×400 (3:30.06).
Wassman added a win in the 800 (2:01.57) with Schroeder finishing second (2:02.15), while Klassen captured first in the 1,600 (4:31.45).
Chase Anacker finished fourth in the high jump (5-8). Layne Wall placed fifth in both the 110 hurdles (18.71) and 300 hurdles (46.00) and was sixth in the triple jump (38-8¼). Jordan Linscheid finished fifth in the 400 (53.26) and sixth in the 200 (24.31). Preston Xayachak placed fifth in the long jump (18-11).
