The tillage and planting this spring has progressed very well and area farmers were generally getting the crops planted nearly two weeks earlier than a year ago, up until some recent heavy rains.
According to regional data at local airports and measuring stations, the varying rainfall amounts in the county over the last week have ranged from three to 10 inches, with larger rains occurring in the northern sections of Cottonwood County.
Farmers contacted report that there will certainly be some decisions for replanting any drowned out acres, and the soybeans remaining to be planted are now getting underway again in areas that are drying out with warm weather this week.
