The Windom baseball team saw a pair of late leads slip away Tuesday as the Eagles dropped a 6-5 12-inning decision at St. James.
The Saints tied the game at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Then, after the Eagles went ahead in the top of the 12th, the Saints rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning for a walk-off win.
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Chayton Struck drove in a run with a fielder’s choice grounder and Brady Espenson hit an RBI double.
Down 3-2 in the sixth, the Eagles regained the lead on a passed ball and a Drew Rothenberger RBI double.
The Eagles again took the lead in the top of the 12th when Struck hit an RBI double.
But in the bottom of the 12th, the Saints tied the game on a single, then claimed the win on a squeeze bunt.
Struck had three hits in the loss for the Eagles. Quintin Tietz added two hits.
Josh Garrison took the pitching loss, working the final 6-1/3 innings in relief. He allowed three runs on four hits, walked two and struck out one.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey did much of its damage early Tuesday, building a lead on its way to a 10-5 win over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Mt. Lake.
After HLOF scored twice in the top of the first, the Wolverines answered with three in the bottom of the inning. Alex Karschnik hit an RBI triple and Tyler Dick hit an RBI single in the inning.
The Wolverines added four runs in the second. Jake Evers hit a bases-clearing double and Karschnik plated a run on a fielder’s choice.
Sam Pidde added an RBI single in the third and Evers capped the scoring with a two-run single in the fifth.
Pidde had three hits in the win. Evers had two hits and five RBI.
Evers picked up the pitching win, working the first 4-2/3 innings. He allowed five runs on four hits, walked five and fanned 10.

Sleepy Eye 200 031 x = 6-10-3
Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove couldn’t hold onto the lead late on Tuesday, as Sleepy Eye rallied for a 6-5 win at Sleepy Eye.
The Falcons took a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Isaac Simonson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Keaton Skarupa hit an RBI single.
In the top of the fifth, the Falcons scored a run on a double steal and Vander Mathiowetz ad a run-scoring sacrifice fly for a 5-2 lead.
But Sleepy Eye rallied, tying the game in the bottom of the fifth, then scoring a run in the sixth to take the lead. The Indians then struck out the side in the top of the seventh for the win.
Dan Kleven took the loss for the Falcons, working the final 1-2/3 innings in relief. He allowed a run on four hits and struck out two.
