The Windom Eagle fastpitch softball team couldn’t generate enough offense Friday afternoon, dropping a pair of close games to Jackson County Central in a doubleheader at Jackson.
JCC won the opener on a 2-1 walk-off, then took the nightcap 2-0.
In the opener, the Eagles trailed 1-0 until the fifth inning. Camryn Elness hit a one-out single, took second on an error and scored on a Tristyn Maras RBI single.
The game was tied until the bottom of the seventh, when JCC’s leadoff hitter reached on an error, moved to third on a double and scored on a single.
Kadyn Paulson had two hits in the loss for the Eagles.
Anja Nielsen took the pitching loss, allowing six hits and striking out seven.
In the nightcap, the Eagles and Huskies traded zeroes on the scoreboard until the top of the sixth, when the Huskies plated two runs on a potential double-play ball that wound up recording only an out at second base.
Meanwhile, the Eagle offense was completely shut down, as Windom recorded only one hit and three baserunners in the game. Nielsen’s leadoff single in the second was the only Eagle hit. Nielsen and Brita Tjentland each drew a walk in the game.
Nielsen took the pitching loss, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five.
