FRIDAY BASEBALL: Eagles blank Huskies

JCC 000 00 = 0-1-5
Windom 326 0x = 11-8-1

The Windom Eagle baseball team made the most of its scoring chances Friday afternoon, rolling to an 11-0 shutout win over Jackson County Central at Island Park.

The Eagles raced to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Drew Rothenberger scored on a wild pitch. Josh Garrison and Chayton Struck added back-to-back RBI groundouts.

In the second, the Eagles plated a pair of runs on a JCC error.

Then, in the third, Windom blew the game open, Hayden Tietz and Tucker Renquist had back-to-back RBI singles, with Renquist scoring on a wild pitch. Quintin Tietz added an RBI single and two runs scored on an error, giving the Eagles an 11-0 lead.

That was more than enough support for Eagle pitcher Rothenberger, who allowed only two baserunners in the game. Rothenberger allowed an infield single in the first inning for the lone JCC hit, then issued a two-out walk in the second. He finished with six strikeouts.

Wabasso 220 102 0 = 7-2-2

The lone Falcon runs scored in the bottom of the fifth. Hudsen Jenniges scored on an errant pickoff attempt and Jayden Lang hit an RBI groundout.
