There may have been a little coffee spit out at the kitchen table while opening letters from the assessor’s office during the last few weeks.
Cottonwood County property owners have been receiving letters from the county assessor’s office. Some owners have been stunned by what they have read.
The letters show that, on average, market value assessments of tillable ag properties are up between 60- 75% (depending on township), with building sites and land up around 30%, while assessments on residences in Cottonwood County’s cities are up between about 10% to 25%.
