TUESDAY BASEBALL: Eagles fall at Pipestone

Pipestone made the most of its scoring opportunities early Tuesday as the Arrows raced to an 8-2 victory over the Windom baseball team at Pipestone.

The Eagles took an early lead, scoring on a Henry Erickson RBI single in the top of the first. But Pipestone answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, one in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth, taking control of the game.

Windom’s final run scored on a Hayden Tietz RBI single in the fourth inning.

Quintin Tietz had three hits in the loss. Josh Garrison and Chayton Struck had two hits each.

Hunter Palm took the pitching loss, working the first 2-1/3 innings. He allowed six runs on six hits and a walk.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton took command early and never let up Tuesday, cruising to a 9-1 victory over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Ruthton.

The Knights plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning, then put the game away with two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

The lone Falcon run scored in the fifth inning. Austin Imker reached on an error and scored on the back end of a double steal.

Imker and Dan Kleven had the lone Falcon hits in the loss.

Quintyn Vold took the pitching loss, working the first 5-2/3 innings. He allowed seven runs on 10 hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Coyotes at Wolverines, postponed

Heavy rainfall that swept through the Mt. Lake area early Tuesday afternoon left the field unplayable, resulting in the postponement of Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s game against Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda.

No reschedule date has been determined.
