Section 3A True Team
Windom’s boys finished fifth and the girls eight at the Section 3A True Team Meet, held Monday in Slayton.
The Eagle boys finished with 423 points, but were just 12 points out of second place. Luverne won the team title with 629 points.
Windom’s girls finished with 306 points. Luverne won the team title with 640 points.
Windom’s boys had one first-place finish in the meet, as the team of Kevin Bleess, Charlie Smith, Aaden Nauman and Bryan Macario Rios won the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:36.59.
Thomas Green took third in the 3,200 (10:16.59) and fourth in the 1,600 (4:44.65). Bleess was fourth in the 200 (24.26). Jose Rodas took fourth in the shot put (40-3¼) and discus (115-5). Smith took fifth in the 400 (53.91) and sixth in the 800 (2:12.87). Nauman placed fifth in the 800 (2:10.97) and 1,600 (4:45.40). Macario Rios was sixth in the 400 (53.97). Job Ogeka finished sixth in the triple jump (37-10½).
For the girls, Kaylee Walklin led the way, placing second in the 1,600 and breaking her own school record with a time of 5:16.66. She also was third in the 800 (2:25.93).
Victoria Robillard tied for second in the pole vault (8-0). Elliot Espenson was third in the shot put (36-8), fourth in the discus (98-6) and sixth in the triple jump (31-4).
Section 2A True Team
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s boys were eighth and the girls 10th, while the Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin boys took 12th and the girls 14th at the Section 2A True Team Meet, held Tuesday at Wells.
For the boys, MLAC finished with 572 points. MCWBO had 503. Maple River won the team title with 894 points.
MLAC’s girls finished with 463 points. MCWBO had 386½ points. Jackson County Central won the team title with 836 points.
MLAC’s boys were paced by the 4×800 relay team, which finished first with a time of 8:30.82.
Zach Klassen added a runner-up finish in the 1,600 (4:41.95). Kody Wassman was third in the 400 (52.84) and fourth in the 3,200 (10:08.80). Ethan Schroeder took third in the 800 (2:05.39). Jordan Linscheid finished fourth in the 100 (12.30) and fifth in the 200 (24.45). Chase Anacker was sixth in the long jump (18-2).
For the girls, the top finish was a third-place throw of 93-3 in the discus for Kearney Wall. MLAC also placed third in the 4×800 relay (10:51.04).
The MCWBO boys placed second in the 4×400 (3:38.40) and 4×800 (8:49.06).
Ryan Pierson was third in the 3,200 (10:02.95). Max Olson placed fifth in the shot put (40-8½). Kylar Larson took sixth in the discus (112-3). Joseph Forsberg finished sixth in the 100 (12.33).
The lone top-six finish for the girls was from Katie Hartke, who took fifth in the 3,200 (12:54.19).
