WEEKEND SOFTBALL: Wolverines top Blackhawks

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey used a three-run rally in the fifth inning to take the lead for good Friday, claiming a 4-1 win over Madelia at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines got on the board first, scoring on an Ella Dockter groundout in the second inning.
Madelia tied the game in the fourth, but the Wolverines took the lead for good in the fifth. Ella Peters scored on a wild pitch, Dockter drove in a run with a groundout and Alexis Romsdahl hit an RBI single.
Romsdahl had two of the Wolverines’ four hits in the win.
Kennedie Simon scattered four hits, walked two and fanned five in the victory.

Sleepy Eye 220 453 x = 16-13-0

Sleepy Eye’s offense kept constant pressure on Friday as the Indians cruised to a 16-7 victory over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Sleepy Eye.
The Indians scored multiple runs in five of their six at-bats in the game.
RRC/WWG got on the board with a bases-loaded walk to Isabella Rentschler in the third inning.
In the fourth, Addeson Jenniges plated a run with a groundout and Chloe Ramthun had a sacrifice fly. Ella Erickson added a bases-loaded walk and Jenniges hit an RBI single in the fifth. Reilly Hubin had a bases-loaded walk and Ella Knakmuhs had an RBI fielder’s choice for the Falcons’ final runs in the sixth.
Jenniges had three hits in the loss.
Carlie Ross took the pitching loss, allowing 13 hits and six walks while striking out six.
