The Windom Eagle fastpitch softball team was shorthanded and fell behind early Thursday, falling 9-0 at St. James.
The Eagles played without pitcher Anja Nielsen due to injury. The Eagle offense never got on track against Saint pitcher Addie Bowers, who held Windom to three hits and struck out 13.
St. James scored four runs in the second inning, taking the lead for good. The Saints added single runs in the third and fourth before a three-run fifth inning.
Charlee Huska had two of the Eagles’ three hits.
Brita Tjentland took the pitching loss, allowing six runs on four hits and eight walks in 3-1/3 innings. She struck out two.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey jumped to an early lead and rolled to a 20-8 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Thursday in Okabena.
The Wolverines hammered out 18 hits, including six extra-base hits in the win.
MLAC raced to a lead with a five-run first inning. Annika Brinkman had an RBI triple, Brooke Naas hit an RBI double, Ella Dockter had a two-run triple and Thaila Sengchan hit an RBI single.
MLAC added a run on a wild pitch in the second. In the third, Jaci Tollefson had an RBI double and Brinkman hit an RBI single.
The Wolverines added a two-run double from Naas in a five-run fifth.
In the seventh, the Wolverines sealed the win with seven runs. Nadia Phommachan hit a two-run double, Tollefson had an RBI single, Naas hit a two-run single and Alana Morey added an RBI single.
Tollefson, Brinkman and Naas had three hits each in the win.
Ashlyn Pfeiffer earned the pitching win, allowing 10 hits and six walks while striking out six.

A back-and-forth game saw Murray County Central rally twice in the late innings Thursday, claiming an 11-8 win over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a game played at Plum Creek Park near Walnut Grove.
The Falcons took an early lead on a Mercedes Myers RBI single in the third. Then, in the fourth, Ella Erickson had an RBI single and Addeson Jenniges hit a two-run single, giving the Falcons a 4-1 lead.
MCC answered with six runs in the top of the fifth, but the Falcons regained the lead in the bottom of the inning. Ella Knakmuhs, Jenniges and Chloe Ramthun had RBI singles in the inning, giving the Falcons an 8-7 lead.
But MCC responded with four runs in the top of the sixth, sealing the victory.
Jenniges led RRC/WWG with three hits in the loss.
Jenniges took the pitching loss, allowing nine hits and eight walks while striking out seven.
