THURSDAY BASEBALL: Wolverines, Falcons win

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey did damage early Thursday and held on late, claiming a 5-2 victory over Adrian-Ellsworth at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ashton Toll hit an RBI single and Tyler Dick had a two-run single.
Toll added a two-run triple in the bottom of the second, giving the Wolverines a 5-1 lead.
The Dragons scored once in the fourth, but pitchers Alex Blom and Evan Karschnik kept the Dragon offense at bay.
Toll had two of the Wolverines’ five hits in the game.
Blom worked the first 6-2/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He walked three and fanned nine. Karschnik worked the final one-third of an inning, striking out one.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove raced to an early lead and made it stand Thursday, claiming a 7-3 win over Edgerton/Southwest Christian at Edgerton.
The Falcons jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a wild pitch and a two-run Hudsen Jenniges single.
In the fifth, the Falcons scored on a wild pitch and an Isaac Simonson RBI single. And in the sixth, RRC/WWG scored on an error and a Jayden Lang groundout.
Ashton Juhnke had two hits in the win for the Falcons.
Juhnke also was the winning pitcher, working the first five innings. He allowed four hits, walked six and struck out four.
