The Windom Fire Department responded to a controlled burn fire that spread and briefly got out of control east of Windom.
Fire Chief Ben Derickson said the Mt. Lake Fire Department was doing a controlled grass burn at about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday approximately a half mile east of Windom on County Road 17 when the fire jumped a fence and spread quickly.
Windom’s Fire Department was paged at 10:08 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 10:11 p.m. Firefighters from both departments battled the blaze until 11:41 p.m.
No damage or injuries were reported.
