The need for mental health care since the COVID pandemic has not decreased, according to local sources, and efforts to increase options and break stigmas against seeking care are ongoing.
In 2021, the local area lost some service capacity when Southwestern Mental Health closed offices in both Windom and Jackson, but a shift to telehealth care and the availability again of walk-in care in some locations are recent attempts to bolster mental health care.
Starting now in May, Windom Area Health is providing limited hours for walk-in mental health care in an attempt to fill some gaps in care.
Please see the May 3 edition of the Citizen for more information.
