Worthington Invite
Windom and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central each took part in the Worthington Invitational, held Thursday.
Windom’s boys finished fourth with 70 points. WWG/RRC tied for 10th with 21 points. Worthington won the team title.
For the girls, Windom finished eighth with 36 points. WWG/RRC was 11th with 15 points. Luverne won the team title with 181.
The lone victory of the day for the Eagles came in the girls 1,600, as Kaylee Walklin won with a time of 5:26.92. Walklin also took second in the 3,200 (11:45.62). Elliot Espenson placed third in the shot put (34-10) and sixth in the long jump (13-9).
Windom’s boys were led by the 4×800 relay team of Aaden Nauman, Charlie Smith, Thomas Green and Bryan Macario Rios, which took second (8:59.05). The 4×200 team of Job Ogeka, Kevin Bleess, James Erickson and Macario Rios was second (1:38.90).
Macario Rios took third in the 400 (534.10) with Bleess fifth (55.19). Green was fourth in the 3,200 (10:26.02) with Nauman fifth (10:27.35). Smith took fourth in the pole vault (9-6). Bleess was fourth in the long jump (18-8½). Jose Rodas took fourth in the shot put (40-5). Elliot Serreyn finished fifth in the high jump (5-6) with Green sixth (5-4). Ogeka placed sixth in the triple jump (37-5½).
WWG/RRC’s girls were led by Abby Wiggins, who placed third in the pole vault (7-6). Evelyn Rentschler was fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.71).
For the WWG/RRC boys, Kole Curry took third in the 100 (11.86) and was fifth in the 200 (24.65) and long jump (18-5½). Luke DeSmith took fourth in the 400 (54.83).
Mike Vrklan Relays
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s boys were fourth and the girls seventh at the Mike Vrklan Relays, held Thursday in Arlington.
The boys finished with 52½ points. Redwood Valley won the team title with 68½ points.
MLAC’s girls scored 30 points. Sibley East won the title with 92 points.
MLAC’s boys were led by Carter Olson, who won the 400 (55.46). Ethan Schroeder placed second in the 1,600 (4:50.93). Jordan Linscheid placed fourth in the 100 (12.41).
The team of Linscheid, Schroeder, Kody Wassman and Zach Klassen won the 4×400 (3:39.09). The team of Olson, Chase Anacker, Wassman and Klassen won the sprint medley relay (3:51.02) and the team of Olson, Schroeder, Klassen and Wassman won the distance medley relay (6:18.37).
For the girls, the team of Gracie Peters, Hannah Beyer, Zoe Evers and Lydia Rete won the sprint medley relay (4:54.65). Rete added a third-place finish in the 3,200 (13:31.16) while Evers was third in the triple jump (28-2).
Fairmont Quad
Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin placed fourth for both girls and boys at Thursday’s Fairmont Quad.
The MCWBO girls finished with five points. St. Peter won the meet with 72. The MCWBO boys scored 17 points. Fairmont won the meet with 86.
For the girls, the top finisher was Katie Hartke, who took second in the 800 (2:40.0). Diana Rodriguez was fourth in the 3,200 (14:16.7).
For the boys, the 4×800 relay team of Riley Cole, Ryan Pierson, Grant Koehnen and Jamesson Forsberg won with a time of 8:58.7. Pierson placed first in the 3,200 (10:19) with Forsberg second (10:51.2)
