According to paperwork filed today, in the state of Delaware, HyLife Foods Windom LLC has asked for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Filing for Chapter 11 allows them to reorganize the businesses affairs, debt and assets. According to the paperwork, HyLife Foods Windom LLC has between 200-999 creditors and between $100,000,001-$500 million of both assets and liabilities.
Workers were told about the bankruptcy filing in an employee meeting on Thursday afternoon, and to expect buyers touring the plant next week.
Windom Mayor Dominic Jones got a call from HyLife Thursday afternoon and noted that they remain committed to selling the plant and continuing production work. He believes that the news that there are potential buyers coming is a positive.
