The Windom Eagle baseball team used a big second inning to take the lead and cruised to an 11-4 victory over Pipestone Tuesday at Island Park.
Windom had a strong pitching performance from senior Chayton Struck, who tossed a complete game in the win, scattering eight hits. He walked four and fanned six.
Windom got on the board in the bottom of the first, scoring on a Drew Rothenberger RBI groundout.
Then, in the second, the Eagles opened the flood gates. Rothenberger hit a two-run double, Henry Erickson and Adam Perrizo added RBI singles and two runs scored on errors, giving the Eagles a 7-1 lead.
Windom added a run in the third, scoring on an error.
Pipestone cut the deficit to 8-4 with three runs in the fourth inning, but the Eagles put the game away in the sixth, scoring twice on an error and adding an RBI single from Quintin Tietz.
Tietz, Erickson and Brady Espenson each had two hits in the win.
