Cardinal Relays
Windom and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central each took part in the Cardinal Relays, held Tuesday in Luverne.
The Windom boys finished sixth in the team standings with 64 points. WWG/RRC was 10th with 19 points. Luverne won the team title with 176½ points.
The Windom girls tied for seventh with 35½ points. WWG/RRC was ninth with 7 points. Luverne won the team title with 183½.
Individually, Windom’s boys were led by Bryan Macario Rios, who captured second place in the 400-meter dash (54.82). Aaden Nauman was third in the 1,600 (5:04.11) and fourth in the 3,200 (11:00.58). Jose Rodas was third in the shot put (40-3) and fifth in the discus (113-4). Job Ogeka was third in the triple jump (40-½). Charlie Smith took fourth in the pole vault (10-0), fourth in the 800 (2:18.79) and fifth in the 1,600 (5:10.57).
WWG/RRC’s boys were led by Kole Curry’s third-place finish in the 100 dash (12.14). Luke DeSmith was fourth in the 400 (55.89).
Windom’s girls were led by Kaylee Walklin, who placed second in the 3,200 (12:38.60) and fourth in the 400 (1:07.74). Elliot Espenson finished fourth in the shot put (34-½) and discus (94-4). Windom also took fourth in the 4×800 relay (11:09.84).
WWG/RRC’s top finish was from Abby Wiggins, who placed sixth in the pole vault (7-0).
O/A Invitational
The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys captured first place while the girls placed fourth at the Observer/Advocate Invitational, held Tuesday in Mt. Lake.
MLAC’s boys finished with 145 points to win the meet. St. James was second with 119½.
The MLAC girls finished with 94½ points. Murray County Central won the meet with 135 points.
MLAC’s boys were led by a strong showing in the distance events. The 4×800 relay team of Zach Klassen, Ethan Schroeder, Luke Klassen and Kody Wassman placed first (9:24.72). The same runners were second in the 4×400 (3:44.55). Zach Klassen added a win in the 800 (2:08.44) while Wassman was first in the 1,600 (4:52.16).
Evan Oltmans placed second in the discus (101-9). Alex Karschnik was second in the high jump (5-6). Jordan Linscheid was second in the triple jump (39-10½) and 200 (24.60). Schroeder was third I the 1,600 (5:20.42). Layne Wall took third in the 110 hurdles (20.26).
The Wolverine girls were led by Kearney Wall, who was first in the discus (88-9).
Michala Morin was third in the triple jump (28-3). Khloe Saelee was third in the high jump (4-8). Abigail Beyer was third in the 300 hurdles (58.15). Meghan Johnson took third in the 3,200 (14:31.24). Gracie Peters finished third in the 400 (1:09.84). The 4×800 relay team of Lydia Rete, Johnson, Beyer and Peters finished second (11:34.76).
