A sergeant position will soon be reinstated in the Windom Police Department after getting approval from the Windom City Council.
Chief Scott Peterson said the new position will have to be posted for two weeks before the interview process can begin, but he hopes to have someone hired by May 1.
Peterson said, “We have gotten bigger as a department and we do need some supervision at night. We also do have some young staff. So there will be a management component, as well as supervision and mentoring.”
