A Celebration of Life Service for Lonn Engler, age 61, of Windom, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15th at the First United Methodist Church in Windom, with Pastor Mike McInnis officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom and for one-hour prior to the service on Saturday, at First United Methodist Church.
On March 24, 2023, Lonn was visiting his parents in Bemidji, Minnesota and suffered a stroke. He was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota where he passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30th, at the age of 61 years.

Â Â Lonn Marlyn Engler was born on September 1, 1961, in Westbrook, Minnesota to Marlyn and Dixie (Parker) Engler. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Christian faith in Westbrook. He received his education in the Westbrook Public Schools, graduating from Westbrook High School where he ran track and played football. After high school, he continued his education at Alexandria Vo-Tech in Alexandria, Minnesota.
On February 2, 1985, Lonn united in marriage to his best friend, Sheryl Engler, at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This union blessed him with three stepchildren: Chris, Kevin, and Karla. Together they became a very close family. He loved spending time with friends and family. Lonn enjoyed racing and going to the races with Bill. He did stock car racing in his younger years. You could find him with his friends four-wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and camping. Lonn looked forward to going to bear camp and deer camp every year.
Lonn owned and operated a gas station for a short time in Westbrook, worked many years as a mechanic for Steffen’s General Motors and then worked for the grain elevator, both in Windom. Lonn and Sheryl then decided to take on a new adventure as owner/operators of the Green Roof Lodge Resort on Women Lake in Hackensack, Minnesota. Lonn and Sheryl later decided to move back to the Windom area in 2010 to be closer to family. Lonn began working for Cottonwood County as a heavy equipment operator until being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. On March 21, 2022, Sheryl passed away. Following her death, Lonn continued to live in Windom.

Left to cherish Lonn’s everlasting memory are his parents, Marlyn and Dixie Engler of Bemidji; sister, Nancy (Doug Whitney) Engler of Arizona; stepchildren, Chris (Brad) Anderson of Jackson, Kevin (Nicki) Axtell of Pierre, South Dakota, Karla Ambrose from Estherville, Iowa; grandchildren, Ashley (Tamas) Szasz, Megan (Chase) Carlson, Josh Anderson, Cassie (Josh) Albright, Dillion Axtell, Samantha Axtell, Katelynn Axtell, Danielle Ambrose, Jessica Ambrose; great-grandchildren, Aiden Szasz, Kayson Szasz, Olivia Albright and Kaylie Anderson.
Lonn is preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl (Rutledge) Engler; grandparents, L.L. and Mavis Parker and Ed and Violet Engler; as well as many aunts and uncles.
