James C. Lande

March 14, 1936 – December 20, 2022

Kennewick, Washington – On December 20th, 2022, another jolly Norwegian peacefully entered the gates of Heaven. Born to Olga and Clarence Lande on March 14,1936, James grew up on “Lande Farm” in Windom, Minnesota. After attending school in a one-room country schoolhouse, James spent many years working for Burlington Northern Railroad. Affectionately, James was nicknamed “Ole” by family members because he was always ready to share another “Ole and Lena” joke bringing giggles and smiles to all. A skilled woodworker and oil painter, James’ talent and creativity lives on in many beautiful paintings and Norwegian-inspired pieces of furniture he graciously gifted to family and friends. James had also taken up oil painting and many of his lovely pieces adorn the walls of family and friends. Multitalented, James also enjoyed music and singing with his church choir.

James’ humor and smile will be missed; however, we know he is bringing laughter and fun to his new friends and family in Heaven painting, laughing, and asking his father, Clarence Lande, Mother Olga Lande, and daughter Dyan Lande, “Why did Ole wear two jackets while painting? … because the directions on the paint can say PUT ON TWO COATS.”

James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joann Lande, brothers, Max, Arlan (Kate), sister, Mary (Willis), daughters Debbie Lande Cassidy (Steve), Kristen Lande Weber (Ken), Janie Gutierrez (Ed), Donna Anderson, and Terry McMaster (Lee), and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James’ life will be celebrated at 1:00PM, March 17, 2023 at Kennewick First Lutheran Church, 418 N Yelm Street, Kennewick, WA.
