The city of Comfrey will celebrate a somber milestone next Wednesday with a ceremony to mark 25 years since a tornado devastated the community.
A remembrance program will be held on March 29 at 3 p.m., at the Comfrey Community Center and will include short presentations from speakers about their recollections of the day.
The ceremony is designed for the community to not only look back, but also look at how things have progressed in the 25 years since the tornado and to look forward to the future.
Coffee and cookies will be served at the ceremony.
The city will also sound the severe weather sirens at 4:28 p.m. on March 29, which is the time the tornado began its path of destruction through the town.
