On June 15, 1963, Pat was united in marriage to Phyllis Schmidt at the United Church of Christ in Henderson, Minnesota. The couple lived in Windom, where Phyllis was a kindergarten teacher, and Pat worked as a surveyor for Cottonwood County.

Pat had a green thumb and was a Cottonwood County Master Gardener. He grew over 75 varieties of grapes, as well as an assortment of fruit trees, including peach, apricot, pear and apple. With his passion for grapes, Pat was a founder of the Grape Growers Association of Minnesota and worked in collaboration with the MN Arboretum to encourage the development of grapes that would grow and thrive in the Minnesota climate for wine making. Additionally, Pat served on the Board of Directors for Windomnet in the development of cable television.

Pat is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Woodcock of Windom; two brothers, Harold (Ruth) Woodcock and Hayes Woodcock; brother-in-law, Loren (Carol) Schmidt; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie (Steven) Drexler; brother, Jack (Irene) Woodcock; in-laws, George and Mary (Brandt) Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Orville Schmidt and Ivan (Mabel) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Judy Woodcock; and half-sister, Josephine Lange.
