Margaret Ann Kelm was born March 26, 1936, in Amo Township MN to Everett and Hazel (Ihrke) Kuehl. She was baptized and confirmed at Amo Methodist Church in rural Storden.

She attended country school for 5 years and graduated from Storden High School in 1954. She then attended Mankato State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education.

While working at Centenary Methodist Church in Mankato, she met Norman Kelm. They were married there on August 22, 1959. They bought and moved to a farm by Westbrook in 1962. Together they farmed the land and were blessed with three children, who also helped on the farm.

As a member of Amo Lutheran Church, she served on church council and was active in WELCA, holding several offices, tying quilts and made many pots of “egg coffee”. She led the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs for many years.

Margaret was a 4-H member in her youth and helped her children and others have the same experience by being a 4-H Leader for many years. She also co-managed the county fair 4-H food stand for several years.

She enjoyed being a member of the Extension Club for many years.

In retirement they enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson MO, and a farm tour to Germany. They enjoyed 20 years wintering in Arizona where she was active with the quilting group and cabaret committee.

She loved square dancing, dancing, quilting, gardening, baking – especially pies, and spending time with family and friends.

Margaret is survived by her children: Kristine (Richard) Isder of Milan, MN, Bruce (Shirley) Kelm of Rogersville, MO, and Wayne (Sheri) Kelm of White SD; granddaughters: Allek (Matt) Scheele, Jordan (Carter) Potthoff, Laura Kelm, and Anna (Justin) Middleton; great-grandchildren: Oliver, Penelope, Landon and Sawyer; sisters: Delores Carr, LaDonna (Glen) Gravelle and Myrna Kuehl; brother Norman (Mary) Kuehl; brother-in-law Glen (Sharon) Kelm.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, parents, and brother Darrel Kuehl.

Margaret died peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Our House Hospice of Murray County in Slayton at the age of 86.

Blessed be her memory.
