Voters in the city of Mt. Lake will decide later this year whether or not to authorize the sale of on-sale liquor on Sundays within the city.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Mt. Lake city council approved a liquor license for a new Tex-Mex restaurant, La Tejanita. However, the restaurant also requested selling on-sale liquor on Sundays, which would require approval by the voters first.
City Administrator Michael Mueller said the city is waiting to hear from the Secretary of State on which date a special election can be held. It will either be held May 9 or Aug. 8.
