WEEKEND GIRLS BASKETBALL: Arrows stifle Eagles; Wolverines, Falcons fall

Pipestone 41-38 = 79

Pipestone battered the Windom girls basketball team in the lane and beyond the arc Friday night, rolling to a 79-46 victory over the Eagles at Pipestone.

The Arrows shot 52% from the field for the game while holding the Eagles to 34%. The Arrows also outrebounded the Eagles 39-23 for the game.

Alivia Letcher led Windom with 20 points. Hadley Sammons added 17 points in the loss.

Edgerton 18-32 = 50
MLAC 21-25 = 46

Edgerton rallied in the second half Friday night, claiming a 50-46 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey in Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines led by three at halftime, but Edgerton surged down the stretch, taking the lead in the final minutes.

Brooke Naas and Jaci Tollefson each scored 13 points in the loss for the Wolverines.

RRC 22-17 = 39
WWG 31-34 = 65

Westbrook-Walnut Grove bombed away from the outside Friday night, pulling away in the second half to defeat Red Rock Central 65-39 in Westbrook.

The Chargers pulled away in the closing stages of the opening half, taking a nine-point lead into the locker room. WWG got a spark from junior Isabel Klumper surpassing the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Meanwhile, RRC tried to find a rhythm inside. But in the second half, RRC struggled against a pressing Charger defense and WWG crashed the offensive boards to create 23 second-chance points.

Alyssa Cowan led RRC with 16 points in the loss. Sondra Rindfleisch added nine points.
