THURSDAY BOYS BASKETBALL: Eagles roll past Blackhawks

The Windom boys basketball team blew the game open late in the first half Thursday night, rolling to a 90-54 victory over Madelia at Windom.

The Eagles shot 55% from the field for the game, erupting in the final minutes of the opening half to build a 60-25 halftime advantage.

The Eagles expanded the lead to 70-28 early in the second half.

Henry Erickson paced the Eagles with 21 points. Drew Rothenberger and Abe McKibbin each scored 16 points and Bryan Macario added 11 in the win.

MCC 29-38 = 67

Murray County Central shut down the Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey offense Thursday night, pulling away in the second half for a 67-35 win at Slayton.

The Rebels held the Wolverines to a single three-pointer in the game and 25% shooting from the field overall. That allowed MCC to turn a nine-point halftime lead into a dominant victory, as the Rebels outscored the Wolverines 38-15 in the second half.

Carter Olson led the Wolverines with 12 points. Ashton Toll and Alex Karschnik each scored seven points in the loss.

SWC 38-43 = 81
RRC 20-26 = 46

Southwest Christian shot 55% from the field and converted turnovers into points Thursday night, defeating Red Rock Central 81-46 in Lamberton.

The Eagles forced 22 Falcon turnovers, turning those miscues into 28 points. That allowed SWC to build an 18-point halftime lead.

SWC held the Falcon offense in check with tight interior defense. The Eagles also outscored RRC 27-6 from three-point range.

Isaac Simonson led RRC with 10 points. Corey Arkell added nine points in the loss.
