Lana Tibodeau

A Celebration of Life Service for Lana Tibodeau, age 50, of Windom, will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Windom, with Pastor Marlin Mohrman officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 31st from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue at the First Baptist Church in Windom on Wednesday, for one-hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Lana Renae Tibodeau passed away suddenly, as a result of an automobile accident on Saturday, January 21st, near Richmond, MN.

Lana Renae (Nelson) Tibodeau was born on March 20, 1972, in Brookings, South Dakota, to Richard Nelson and the late Carol (Mischke) Nelson. As a teenager, Lana was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato. She was a longtime, dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Windom, where she was involved in many activities and leadership roles as a Deaconess, AWANA leader, music program and she helped anywhere she was needed. Her greatest passions were being a wife, a mother, and bringing glory and honor to her Lord and Savior in every aspect of her life.

Lana was born in Brookings, and then moved to Mankato, Minnesota in her childhood, where she attended Roosevelt Elementary School. She graduated from Mankato West High School in the class of 1990. Afterward, she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education through Mankato State University, graduating in 1994. She taught school for eleven years and served on various advisory committees over the years.

Lana was united in marriage to Brett Ronald Tibodeau on June 25, 1994. The couple lived briefly in the Twin Cities area before settling in Windom. The marriage was blessed with three beautiful sons, Joshua, Jared and Caleb. The boys were the light of Lana’s eye, and she dedicated her life to raising and caring for the boys and managing the family and household. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed photography, crafts, music and singing, camping, and visiting with people. She had the gift of listening and making others feel loved and cared for.

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Lana was driving Caleb to a robotics competition, when they were involved in an automobile accident. Lana was called home by her Lord and Savior.

Left to cherish the loving memory of Lana, are her husband, Brett Tibodeau of Windom; three sons, Joshua, Jared and Caleb of Windom; father, Richard (Jan) Nelson; brother, Revis (Julie) Nelson and their children, Micah and Taya; in-laws, Marian Tibodeau, and Ronald (Sharron) Tibodeau; as well as many extended family and dear friends.

Lana was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Nelson; grandparents, Arnold and Olga (Klatt) Mischke, and Rueben and LaVerne (Nelson) Nelson.
