The Cottonwood County Citizen received statewide recognition this week, bringing home six awards from the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
Among those awards were four first-place finishes in the Citizen’s circulation class.
The Citizen received first-place honors for General Reporting, Sports Reporting, Photography as a Whole and Editorial Page.
A second-place award went to reporter Joel Alvstad in Category X, which for this year’s contest was public health. The award was for a three-part series on the impact of the COVID pandemic on the local health care industry.
The Citizen also received a third-place award for Typography and Design.
