TUESDAY GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tigers pull away from Eagles

Windom 23-16 = 39
Marshall 27-41 = 68

Marshall turned up the defensive pressure in the second half Tuesday night, pulling away for a 68-39 win over the Windom Eagles at Marshall.

The Eagles held their own early in the game, trailing by four at halftime. But the Tigers held the Eagle offense under wraps in the second half, outscoring Windom 41-16 over the final 18 minutes to claim the victory.

Hadley Sammons led the Eagles with 11 points. Alivia Letcher finished with 10 points in the loss.

RRC 33-24 = 57
HLOF 16-23 = 39

Red Rock Central had a big night from long range Tuesday night, racing to a 57-39 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda in Fulda.

The Falcons hit eight three-pointers as a team in the game, with Ella Erickson and Reilly Hubin hitting three treys each.

The hot shooting allowed the Falcons to build a 17-point halftime lead, which it maintained most of the second half.

Erickson led the Falcons with a career-high 15 points. Hubin added 12 points in the win.

MLAC 21-29 = 50
WWG 32-24 = 56

Conference frontrunner Westbrook-Walnut Grove got off to a fast start Tuesday night and held on late, claiming a 56-50 win over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey in Westbrook.

The Wolverines struggled from the field early as WWG raced to an 11-point lead. MLAC battled back, but couldn’t overcome a frigid 28% shooting night from the field or a red-hot night from WWG guard Isabel Klumper, who scored 32 of her team’s 56 points.

Julia Brinkman led MLAC with 16 points in the loss. Brooke Naas finished with 15 points.
