A salary request was denied, which could potentially create legal action for Cottonwood County Commissioners.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the board declined a request from County Attorney Nick Anderson for a $10,000 salary increase for himself and a $20,000 increase for Assistant County Attorney Casey Schofield-Mork.
Anderson was not in attendance at the meeting, but stated in a letter that if the salary request was not granted, he wants to cancel the contracts for the attorney’s office to provide services to the city of Windom and to Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services.
The contract to provide prosecutorial services for the city of Windom is a continuing contract with a 90-day out clause. Meanwhile, the contract with DVHHS runs through at least the end of the year.
