The Windom Area girls hockey team fell behind early and couldn’t recover, taking a 7-1 loss to New Ulm Friday at the Windom Arena.
New Ulm got on the board 1:53 into the game and outshot the Eagles 21-6 in the opening period. New Ulm raced to a 4-0 lead after one period, then added a pair of goals late in the second and one in the third.
The lone Windom Area goal came at the 6:42 mark of the third period, when Presley Dockter scored an unassisted goal.
New Ulm outshot the Eagles 36-21 for the game. Goalie Lilly McNea finished with 29 saves.
