The Windom Area boys hockey team mounted a furious third period rally to force overtime, then scored 45 seconds into the extra period to claim a 5-4 victory over Minnesota River Thursday in LeSueur.
The Eagles fell behind 1-0 on a power play goal in the opening period, then saw the Bulldogs net a pair of goals in the second.
The Eagles cut the deficit to 3-1 late in the second on an unassisted goal from Cragen Porath.
Minnesota River stretched the lead to 4-1 early in the third before the Eagles rallied over the final seven minutes.
Chase Hamlett scored with 6:29 left on the clock, then Karson LaCanne added a goal with 3:29 remaining. Finally, with 1:49 left in regulation, Sonny Heil took a feed from Porath and found the back of the net, tying the game at 4-4.
Minnesota River took a penalty 33 seconds into overtime. Heil netted the game-winner 12 seconds into the power play off assists from Porath and Wriley Haugen.
The Eagles outshot the Bulldogs 31-15 for the game. Adam Dahna finished with 11 saves.Â
