The Windom Area boys hockey team took advantage of the power play Thursday and peppered the Redwood Valley net, claiming a 6-1 victory in Redwood Falls.
The Eagles went 3-of-5 on the power play for the game and fired 72 shots on goal in the game.
Windom Area got on the board first, with Chase Hamlett scoring a power play goal early in the first period. Redwood Valley added a power play goal of its own late in the period, tying the game at 1-1.
But the rest of the game was all Eagles, as Windom Area outshot the Cardinals 49-6 over the final two periods. Karson LaCanne and Sonny Heil netted goals in the second period.
Then, in the third, Brady Espenson scored a pair of power play goals and Nick Espenson added a goal, sealing the win.
Grant Dronen finished with nine saves in the win.Â
