The Windom City Council Chambers was full last night in anticipation of a council decision on the future of horse-related events at the Windom Arena.
Instead, the council called a Jan. 11 special joint meeting of the council and city park board. The boards will hear from various user groups and then make a decision. Initial plans have the public meeting at city hall at 5:30 p.m.
Many at last night’s meeting opposed closing the indoor arena to horse shows. There is also concern about the impact on county livestock shows, although Jenny Quade of the council said only events related to riding horses would be affected.
